The Institute of Translation Studies ( ITS ) is engaged in translation teaching, translation studies and translation practice. In the recent years ITS has been granted the following prominent research projects: 2 from China National Social Sciences and Philosophy Fund, 3 from Zhejiang Social Sciences and Philosophy Fund, 2 from Zhejiang Federation for Social Sciences, 2 from Hangzhou Social Sciences and Philosophy Fund. A number of papers on translation studies have been published in such top domestic journals as The Foreign Languages, The Journal of China Translators’ Association, Foreign Language Teaching Theory and Practice, The Journal of Translation Studies, China Science and Technology Terminology.

ITS has tutored MA students in translation studies, and has offered core courses like Translation Theory and Practice, Simultaneous Interpreting, A General Survey of Translation Theory etc.

ITS is active in academic workshops both at home and abroad, attending the 18^th World Translation Conference, China National Foreign Language Teaching Forum, the First China National Forum on Translation Teaching. Its members provide effective social service both in translation and interpreting, producing many academic translated publications. For example, an English book 100 Wonders ofChina is published by Rebo International b.v. Lisse(Holland)，and The Road Leading to the Market is published by Routledge Talor & Francis Group.
